Todos Santos in November is the town back at its best. The heat and storms of summer are over, the galleries and restaurants have reopened, and the weather settles into warm, dry, sunny days with cooler nights. It's also the busiest cultural month of the year, bookended by Day of the Dead in the plaza and, in recent years, the Todos Santos Film Festival.

November also has a rare combination on the ocean side: the water is still around 25°C, and the winter surf season is starting at Cerritos. We'd lean toward November for couples, culture lovers, and surfers who want waves without a thick wetsuit. We'd only steer you elsewhere if whales are your priority; humpbacks don't arrive until mid-December, so January to March is the time for them.

Most people don't realize November has the best balance of the year for many travellers: winter's comfortable weather and open town without winter's cold water, crowds, or peak prices. The biggest difference from December is the ocean; by the holidays the Pacific has cooled to around 23°C.

Temperature and Humidity

November highs average about 29°C (84°F), with lows around 17°C (62°F), a full three degrees cooler at night than October. Humidity drops sharply, and the cool northwest breeze that shapes the winter months returns. The biggest difference from October is comfort: November afternoons are warm rather than hot, and evenings are pleasant for dinner outdoors.

Rain Pattern

November is effectively dry, averaging about 5 mm of rain on roughly one day, with around eight hours of sunshine a day. The eastern Pacific hurricane season officially runs to November 30, but Climates to Travel notes that hurricanes have never occurred in Baja in November.

Sea and Outdoor Conditions

The Pacific averages about 25°C (77°F) in November, ranging from roughly 23°C to 27°C (73–79°F), still comfortable for swimming and surfing in a spring suit. The winter northwest swells return, starting the November-to-March surf season at Cerritos described in the Cerritos surf statistics. With the swell back, the shore break at the town beaches gets stronger again.

November vs October and December

November is the start of the winter season. The town is fully open, winter residents are arriving, and a handful of dates shape the month.

• November 1–2: Day of the Dead. In 2026, the Day of the Dead festival was held in the Francisco I. Madero public plaza, with a Catrinas and Catrines costume contest, according to The Cabo Sun. Expect a lively, busier town.
• November 13–15: Revolution Day long weekend. Mexico's Revolution Day holiday is observed on Monday, November 15, 2027, bringing domestic visitors for the long weekend.
• Late November: the Todos Santos Film Festival. In 2026 the festival's 21st edition ran November 23–29, showcasing new cinema from Baja California Sur, mainland Mexico, and Latin America. Check the 2027 dates.
• November 22–28: US Thanksgiving week. Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 25, 2027, and American visitors increase in the region, especially in Cabo San Lucas.

Most properties had not yet released November 2027 rates when we checked in September 2026, so we sampled November 2026 dates. Boutique hotels in and around town came in around $170–310 per night, with the lowest rates in mid-November and a modest rise over Thanksgiving week, while luxury resorts ranged from roughly $450 to $1,380. Between 12 and 15 properties returned rates, more than in summer, reflecting the reopened town. November is the month when Todos Santos' reputation as Baja's arts town is most obvious. Two events frame it.

Day of the Dead (November 1–2)

Día de Muertos is one of Mexico's most important traditions, and Todos Santos marks it with altars, marigolds, and a festival in the main plaza. In 2026, the program included a Catrinas and Catrines contest, with residents and visitors in elaborate hand-painted skull makeup. It's a family celebration of remembrance rather than a Halloween party, so join in respectfully, and ask before photographing people at private altars.

The Todos Santos Film Festival

The Festival de Cine de Todos Santos is one of the town's longest-running cultural events. Its 21st edition ran November 23–29, 2026, focused on new cinema from Baja California Sur, mainland Mexico, and across Latin America, according to The Cabo Sun. Dates change each year, so check the festival's official announcements for 2027.

Beyond the Festivals

With the town fully reopened, November is also simply a great month for the galleries, the mission church, and the famous Hotel California. What typically happens is that visitors who come for the festivals end up staying for the everyday rhythm of the town: gallery hopping in the morning, the beach in the afternoon, and a long dinner in the cool evening air.

November brings back the winter northwest swell, which is great news for surfers and a reminder for everyone else that most Todos Santos beaches are not for swimming.

Surfing in November

The winter surf season at Cerritos runs roughly November to March, and November is one of the best months to catch it: waves are returning, and the water is still around 25°C, so a spring suit or light 3/2 is enough. We'd give Cerritos the edge for beginners and intermediate surfers from Todos Santos, and point experienced surfers toward San Pedrito and the point breaks up the coast. Where You Can and Can't Swim

• Punta Lobos, La Cachora, La Pastora, and the long beaches near town: heavy shore break and strong currents, stronger again once the winter swell returns. Beautiful for walking and sunsets; not for swimming.
• Playa Los Cerritos (about 15 minutes south): the most forgiving beach in the area and the best bet for a swim on calm days, though it now has real surf.
• Playa Las Palmas (San Pedrito): a palm-backed cove that can be calm on small days, but exposed to the returning swell.

No Whales Yet

What we'd prioritise in November

Plan around the town's calendar first. If you can, arrive for Day of the Dead on November 1–2, or for the film festival in late November, and book your room early. Then enjoy the ocean while it's still warm: surf or swim at Cerritos in the mornings, and give one day to a whale shark swim in La Paz Bay, which we'd give the edge over a Cabo trip this month because the season is building and the town is only an hour away.

• Sea turtle conservation: leatherbacks and olive ridleys are nesting, and the local group Tortugueros Las Playitas relocates nests to its hatchery; hatchling releases begin around December, according to the group.
• Sunset horseback ride: November's warm afternoons and cool evenings make it one of the best months for a beach ride.
• Punta Lobos fishing pangas: watch the local fleet launch and land through the returning surf just south of town.
• El Pescadero farms and farm-to-table dining: the growing season is in full swing, and the garden restaurants between Todos Santos and Cerritos are back to full schedules.
• Sierra de la Laguna foothills: cooler, dry weather makes November one of the best hiking months; go with a local guide.

• Book early for festival dates. Rooms fill fastest around Day of the Dead (November 1–2) and the film festival in late November.
• Check the film festival program. Dates move each year; it ran November 23–29 in 2026.
• Surf while the water is warm. The winter swell is back at Cerritos, and a spring suit or light 3/2 is still enough.
• Plan a whale shark day in La Paz. The season is building, and La Paz is about an hour north.
• Pack a light layer. Nights drop to around 17°C, noticeably cooler than October.
• Watch for Thanksgiving pricing. The week of November 22–28, 2027, is busier, especially in Cabo San Lucas.
• Rent a car. Cerritos, Migriño, La Paz, and every Cabo tour departure need wheels, and most tour pickups cover Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo hotels rather than Todos Santos.
• Treat the beaches with respect. The returning swell makes the town beaches more dangerous; swim at Cerritos on calm days.
