Best Hotels in La Paz, Mexico (2026): 10 Ranked

Courtyard by Marriott La Paz has the highest weighted guest score of any hotel we ranked in La Paz, 9.8/10 across 505 reviews, which makes it #1 by our weighted score. It is at Puerta Cortés, about 6.5 km from downtown, from $136 a night for two. Next door, Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés is the five-star option, with a beach club, from $319. If you want to walk to dinner, HBlue Centro scores 9.0 across 525 reviews downtown with breakfast included from $147, and Casa al Mar is the highest-scoring hotel on the malecón itself, from $290.

We ranked the ten by guest score weighted for review volume (the formula is at the end of this guide), using the same rules as our best hotels in Cabo San Lucas guide, and priced every one live for the same stay, two adults for three nights, on five check-in dates from October 2026 to February 2027. The ranking measures guest satisfaction only; location, price and breakfast are covered separately. La Paz is a working city on a bay, not a resort strip, and its hotels sit in two quite different places. Which one suits you depends mostly on whether you will have a car.

Downtown and the malecón

Seven of the ten are downtown. Baja Club, Seven Crown Malecón and Casa al Mar are on Paseo Álvaro Obregón, the seafront road along the malecón, and Hotel Lorimar and República Pagana are about a block back. HBlue and Seven Crown Centro are three or four blocks up the hill, and Hotel Catedral, which we cover below, is across from the cathedral. From any of them you can walk the malecón at sunset and reach restaurants on foot. The trade-offs are street noise, which guests mention at most of these hotels, and parking, which several have little or none of. The malecón has a beach, but a Casa al Mar guest said you cannot swim there.

Puerta Cortés

Courtyard and Hotel Indigo sit side by side at Puerta Cortés, a marina and golf development on the road to Pichilingue, about 6.5 km north-east of downtown. Hotel Indigo has a beach club; Courtyard does not have a beach, according to one guest. Guests describe a quieter base, closer to the marina and the charter boats, and about 11 km from Balandra in a straight line, against 17 km from downtown. One Hotel Indigo guest put the town centre about 15 minutes away.

Along the highway

Hotel Zar is on Boulevard Constituyentes, about 2.8 km from the centre of the malecón and 8 km from the airport in a straight line, the closest of the ten to the airport. It has free parking and a pool, and guests describe driving into town.

Courtyard by Marriott La Paz

Rated 9.8/10 across 505 guest reviews, Courtyard is #1 by our weighted score, and the highest guest score of any hotel on this page. It scores 10 for service, location and room quality, and its lowest category scores are 9.35 for cleanliness and food. Guests praise the spacious rooms, the breakfast at its Areca restaurant and the marina views. It is at Puerta Cortés, about 6.5 km from downtown, from $136 to $167 per night for two. One guest found it far from the centre, with no beach and a pool small for the size of the hotel. A honeymooning couple with a rental car described Balandra and El Tecolote as very close and the malecón a short drive. If you will have a car, this is our pick.

Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés

Rated 9.1/10 across 287 guest reviews, Hotel Indigo is the highest-scoring five-star hotel in our ranking, next door to Courtyard at Puerta Cortés. Its beach club, with loungers on a beach guests describe as beautiful, is what the reviews come back to, along with the pool bar and rooms with marina-view balconies; one guest had a kitchenette. Service scores 9.85. From $319 per night for two in January, rising to $472 in October and November. Room quality and value are its weakest scores, both 8.35, and guests mention small rooms, a breakfast limited to two items from a menu, a pool that was not heated and construction around the marina. One guest reported cockroaches. If you want a beach and a pool without driving to one, this is the hotel to book.

Hotel HBlue Centro

Rated 9.0/10 across 525 guest reviews, HBlue is the highest-scoring downtown hotel, about three blocks from the malecón. Breakfast is included on every rate we saw, from $147 per night for two, and guests single out the breakfast and the rooftop pool and bar with views over the city and the bay. Service scores 9.75. Location and food are its lowest scores, both 8.25. Guests describe the rooftop pool as small, shallow and cold and the street outside as unattractive, one found the beds hard, and it has few parking spaces. If you want breakfast included and a pool within walking distance of the malecón, book this.

Casa al Mar

Rated 9.0/10 across 306 guest reviews, Casa al Mar is the highest-scoring hotel on the malecón itself. Guests praise the staff, who helped some book tours and even a rental car, and the restaurant, which scores 9.21 for food. From $290 per night for two in October and $393 to $413 from December. It has no pool, according to guests, and some rooms are on several levels with stairs and a shower without a door. Ocean-view rooms face the malecón road, which a guest described as noisy with constant cars; courtyard rooms are quieter. If you want to step out onto the malecón and do not need a pool, book this.

Seven Crown La Paz Centro Histórico

Rated 8.7/10 across 535 guest reviews, Seven Crown Centro is about three blocks up the hill from the malecón, near restaurants and a market. The rate with breakfast was its cheapest board on every date we priced, from $114 per night for two in December to $224 in November, the lowest breakfast-included price on this page. Service and location both score about 9.5. Room quality is its weakest score at 7.99, and guests mention dated rooms, poor sound insulation, and a restaurant in the building that plays music early in the morning. If you want breakfast included for the lowest price downtown, book this and ask for a quiet room.

República Pagana (Adults Only)

Rated 8.6/10 across 212 guest reviews, República Pagana is an adults-only five-star design hotel about a block back from the malecón, with sea views from some balconies. Guests praise the staff (9.8 for service), the two restaurants and the Azotea rooftop bar at sunset. It sells room-only rates from $339 to $503 per night for two. Its cleanliness score is 6.0, the lowest category score on this page, and guests describe worn bathrooms, rooms with little soundproofing, only small rooftop pools rather than a full pool, and one reported two water outages in five nights. If design and food matter more to you than the room, book this.

Hotel Zar La Paz

Rated 8.6/10 across 415 guest reviews, Hotel Zar is a room-only hotel on Boulevard Constituyentes, about 2.8 km from the centre of the malecón, from $71 to $82 per night for two. It has an outdoor pool and free parking, the lowest price on this page for a hotel with a pool. Service scores 9.53. There is no restaurant, and food scores 7.06; one guest found nowhere nearby to eat, while another found shops and restaurants close. If you are driving and want a cheap base near the airport, book this.

Hotel Lorimar

Rated 8.5/10 across 479 guest reviews, Lorimar is the cheapest hotel on this page, from $61 to $76 per night for two, room only, about a block back from the malecón. Value scores 9.16, and guests call it clean, safe and well located. The rooms are the catch: guests describe them as small and basic, with no TV or fridge, small high windows and one towel each, and it has street parking only. If you want the lowest price near the malecón and will only sleep there, book this.

Seven Crown La Paz Malecón

Rated 8.5/10 across 638 guest reviews, Seven Crown Malecón is the most-reviewed of the ten, on the malecón facing the bay, from $136 to $149 per night for two, room only. Guests praise the location and the fifth-floor rooftop restaurant, and one guest was given a bay-view room at no extra charge. Room quality scores 7.6, and guests mention small rooms and bathrooms, weak water pressure and WiFi, and traffic and music noise at night; one said the hotel handed out earplugs. If you want a bay view on the malecón for less than $150, book this and bring earplugs.

Baja Club Hotel

Rated 8.3/10 across 312 guest reviews, Baja Club is a five-star member of Design Hotels on the malecón, with a secluded pool, a spa and a rooftop bar that guests rate for sunset cocktails. Breakfast is included on every rate we saw, from $342 to $413 per night for two. Service and location score 9.55. Cleanliness is its weakest score at 6.55, and value, room quality and food are all 7.55; guests mention mosquitoes, peeling paint, pool loungers that are mats on the floor, and no parking. If the setting and the rooftop matter more to you than the room, book this.

Hotel Catedral La Paz

Hotel Catedral is a downtown hotel across from the cathedral, about 350 m from the malecón, with 1,473 guest reviews in our reservation system. Its category scores are all between 9.0 and 9.9, with 9.86 for food, 9.63 for service and 9.57 for location. Guests praise the included breakfast buffet, the rooftop pool and bar, and free underground parking. They mention a small pool and some noise, including a generator heard from one room. It returned live rates on three of our five dates, December to February, from $166 to $183 per night for two with breakfast. It is not in our ranking because our system has no overall guest score for it, which our formula needs, so we cannot place it against the ten above.

• The beaches are a drive away: Balandra and El Tecolote are north of the city; Balandra is about 17 km from downtown in a straight line. Our Playa Balandra tour guide covers getting there with or without a car.

• Expect street noise downtown: Guests at Casa al Mar, Seven Crown Malecón, Seven Crown Centro, República Pagana and Hotel Lorimar mention noise at night. Rooms away from the street help.
• Parking is scarce downtown: Lorimar has street parking only, and guests at Casa al Mar and Baja Club found no parking. Courtyard, Hotel Indigo, Hotel Zar and Hotel Catedral have free parking.
• Pools are small or on the roof: Downtown, HBlue and República Pagana have rooftop pools, and guests at Casa al Mar say it has none. Hotel Indigo, with its beach club, is the one to book for a day by the water.
• Check the board: HBlue, Seven Crown Centro and Baja Club include breakfast in their cheapest rate. Courtyard, Hotel Indigo and Casa al Mar sell both, and the rest sold room only on the dates we priced.

The ten hotels priced between $61 and $503 per night for two adults on a three-night stay, across five check-in dates from mid-October 2026 to mid-February 2027. Each figure is the hotel's cheapest board, before the local taxes and fees the booking site adds at checkout.

Under $100 a night

Hotel Lorimar from $61 and Hotel Zar from $71, both room only. Lorimar is a block from the malecón; Zar is 2.8 km out with a pool and free parking.

$110 to $190 a night

Seven Crown Centro from $114 with breakfast, Courtyard and Seven Crown Malecón from $136, and HBlue from $147 with breakfast. This is where the best value is: Courtyard, the highest-scoring hotel in La Paz, is in this band.

Over $290 a night

Casa al Mar from $290, Hotel Indigo from $319, República Pagana from $339 and Baja Club from $342 with breakfast.

When to book

There was no single cheap date. October and November were the most expensive of our five dates at Hotel Indigo, Baja Club and Seven Crown Centro, while República Pagana and Casa al Mar cost most from December to February. The budget hotels barely moved. Our month-by-month guides, starting with La Paz in December, cover the weather and the sea life behind those prices.

• Decide on the car first: With a car, Courtyard at Puerta Cortés has the highest score in the city and puts you closer to Balandra. Without one, a downtown hotel lets you walk to dinner along the malecón.
• Pay for breakfast only where it is cheap: At Seven Crown Centro the rate with breakfast was cheaper than room only, while at Courtyard it added $26 to $125 a night.
• Ask for a room off the street: Guests at the malecón hotels describe traffic and music at night. A Casa al Mar guest recommended the courtyard rooms.
• Base yourself near the boats: One Hotel Indigo guest chose it for the marina and the charter boats. Our La Paz fishing charters guide and scuba diving guide cover those trips.

Many lists of La Paz hotels do not say where in the city each one is, or what it costs on real dates. This one uses verified guest reviews and live prices, and says which part of La Paz each hotel is in.

We started from the properties our reservation system lists within 15 km of downtown La Paz. We kept hotels with a guest score of at least 8.0 and at least 300 verified reviews, lowering that to 200 for five-star properties, and removed hostels and duplicate listings. That left fourteen. We then required live rates on at least four of our five dates. Casa Juárez B&B (9.8/10 across 364 reviews) and Hotel & Suites El Moro (9.2 across 878) returned rates on only three, and Quinta Lolita (9.6 across 326) and Hotel Posada Luna Sol (9.2 across 812) returned none, which left exactly ten. Hotel Catedral has no overall guest score in our system, so it could not be ranked. La Concha Beach Hotel (7.4 across 1,374 reviews) and The Westmarine (7.9 across 331) fell below the score floor, and Posada de las Flores (9.3 across 266) below the review floor.

How the ranking is calculated

The order is set by a formula, with no editorial adjustments. It uses two inputs only, guest score and review count; location, board type and price shape what we say about each hotel, not where it ranks. Each hotel gets a weighted score:

Weighted score = (reviews × guest score + 300 × 8.8) ÷ (reviews + 300)

Every hotel starts as if it already had 300 reviews at a baseline score of 8.8, and its real reviews pull it away from that baseline. This is the same formula and baseline as our Los Cabos hotel guides.

Pricing was checked across five check-in dates in September 2026 and reflects two adults for three nights, before the local taxes and fees added at checkout.
